2022 Early Bats

The top overall bat in 2022, according to the System is Felix Valerio. Here's the breakdown:

Felix ValerioMIL AA (21)
BATPWRRUNTOT
SYS2255605055

He is short. Like 5-foot 7-inches short. And he is light weight. Like 165 pounds. He might not fit anywhere but second base. But he has always had a highly regarded hit tool, and he's showing off a flash of power right now. He's rostered in 6% of Fantrax leagues, so if he's available and you have room on your roster I'd go out and sit on him for a little bit. If the power doesn't stick around, be ready to move on.

Here are five more names that the System likes so far:

Cal MitchellPIT AAA (23)
BATPWRRUNTOT
SYS2245605550

Pittsburgh's 23-year old 6-foot outfielder Cal Mitchell has 3HR in 38PA so far, and he's sporting a 15.8% K% and .371AVG. Mitchell is rostered in just 4% of Fantrax leagues. I just added him in my 24-team league (dropped Nick Plummer who seems to be buried in the Met's depth charts). He's already rostered in my 20-team league.

Triston CasasBOS AAA (22)
BATPWRRUNTOT
SYS2250602050

Casas is doing what we expect him to do!

Curtis MeadTBR AA (21)
BATPWRRUNTOT
SYS2250602050

It's good to see Mead, a 2021 break out, continue to produce at a high level.

Matt McLainCIN AA (22)
BATPWRRUNTOT
SYS2240605550

McLain is a 5-foot 11-inch middle infielder at AA at age 22. His 3HR in 35PA so far in 2022 have already matched his 2022 total across 126 PA. He's not striking out too much - 22.9%, and he has 2SB already. He's rostered in 24% of Fantrax leagues.

Isaac ParedesTBR AAA (23)
BATPWRRUNTOT
SYS2245602050

There are pros and cons to being acquired by the Rays. They're so good at identifying talent, but they're even better at finding ways to put guys in situations where they excel, which often reduces their fantasy value.
